Home Sleep Testing

Most people with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) do not know they have this condition. In fact, signs of sleep apnea are more frequently noticed by spouses or partners, who then bring the problem to the attention of the individual suffering from sleep apnea. Southland Dental offers home sleep testing to help diagnose sleep apnea so that you can begin to receive the care you need.

The following signs are indicators of sleep apnea:

  • Snoring
  • Hypersomnia (excessive daytime drowsiness)
  • Gasping and choking
  • Difficulty staying asleep
  • Waking feeling unrested
  • Low energy levels
  • Headaches
  • High blood pressure
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Memory problems
  • Mood and behavioral disturbances
  • Frequent visits to the bathroom

If you notice any of these signs, we recommend that you contact our office about taking a home sleep test. Our practice has a relationship with SleepTest.com, a telemedicine company offering home sleep testing, so that you can get a diagnosis and receive the documentation necessary for our dentist to provide you with proper treatment. If you do not have a local physician or are uncomfortable with leaving the house to receive care, getting a home sleep test through SleepTest.com may be a good option for you.

Are you uncertain if you have sleep apnea? We encourage you to complete our sleep assessment form. This could help determine if you are at risk for sleep apnea and whether or not a home test is a good option for you. You can access our form here:
